Set up your chapter
We create your chapter and make you its first admin. The quickest way through is the setup guide: see "Start here: the setup guide". This article covers the same settings one by one. Everything is in Chapter console: open the menu (top right) and tap Chapter console, or on Home tap Chapter admin and challenge setup. Officers also get the Chapter tab at the bottom, which opens the console's Dashboard: what's waiting on you, how members are using the app (tap a number to see who), Ride 365 progress and the Chrome Chapter checklist, each running challenge, and on the Platform plan your events, photos, leadership and plan. See "Read your chapter dashboard". Across the top of every console page, tabs take you around: Dashboard, Challenges, Members, Events, Photos, Officers, Places and Settings. A computer or tablet makes this easiest.
Steps
- Open the Settings tab.
- Under Chapter profile, check the Chapter name and H.O.G. chapter number.
- Enter your Sponsoring dealer and its Short name (for example, CHD). Riders see distances like "30 mi from CHD". Leave the short name empty to say "dealer".
- Enter the Dealer address; when you save, the Dealer pin moves to it. If the pin is a little off (a big lot, or a side entrance), click the map where rides start to place it yourself, and your pin is kept. Route planning starts from that pin. If the map doesn't load in your browser, type the dealer's Latitude and Longitude in the boxes that appear instead (in Google Maps, right-click the dealer and tap the numbers to copy them).
- Pick your Time zone. Challenges open and close at midnight in that zone.
- Add a Sign-in headline if you like (for example, "Get Out & Ride"). Riders who arrive from your invite link see it on the sign-in screen.
- Tap Save profile.
- Under Joining, choose whether people with your code join right away, or ask to join and wait for an officer to approve them.
- Under Reviewing, choose Who approves photos: any chapter officer, or only the people assigned to each challenge. If your activities officer approves every photo, pick the second one and assign them to the challenge. See "Invite your activities officer and other officers".
- Under Home screen, choose whether members see the national H.O.G. challenges.
- On the Chapter Platform plan, Events has Who's coming. Pick Full name, Initials (like S. S.), or Nothing (just counted). It is what members see for every rider who hasn't picked their own, and a rider's own pick always wins. Officers always see everyone.
Then
- Make a fresh invite code under Members (invite link) before you share it. You can pick your own, like "chicago-rides-2027". See "Invite members to your chapter".
- Set up your challenge. See "Set up a challenge in 15 minutes".
Good to know
- Settings under Joining, Reviewing, and Home screen save as soon as you tap them.
- Officers can't approve their own photos makes another reviewer approve an officer's photos. Without it, officers can approve their own, and the dashboard flags each one.
- Only chapter admins see the Settings, Places, Members and Officers tabs.
